Every single one of us has a purpose in life, that’s why we have been given the chance to be born into this world, to live our lives to the fullest. However, not everyone will find the path he or she is meant to take, and instead participate in an endless rat race, working to survive and surviving to work, until they realise they are wasting their lives doing something they do not enjoy.

What is YOUR purpose in life?

We are not in this world simply to eat, sleep and work. We are here to make a difference, to make the world a better place, to create meaning in our lives.

Knowing your purpose…

  • Gives you confidence
  • Provides direction
  • Motivates you

Boosting confidence

Because one believes in oneself, one doesn’t try to convince others. Because one is content with oneself, one doesn’t need others’ approval. Because one accepts oneself, the whole world accepts him or her.

— Lao Tzu, ancient Chinese philosopher

Knowing your purpose in life allows you to understand clearly what you want in life which in turn gives you insights about your beliefs and values, realising who you are and who you want to be.

Having a strong sense of self will then increase your self-esteem, making you understand that you are worthy, you are enough and you do not need other people’s validation in life.

Taking the path meant for you

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own, and you know what you know. And you are the guy who’ll decide where to go.
 — Dr Seuss

Knowing your purpose in life allows you to be accountable for your own destiny, such that you can and will take concrete actions towards your end goal, and not just wandering around without going anywhere.

A ship without sails is lost at sea, subject to turbulent winds and rough waves; a horse without a saddle is untamed, wild, only seeking grass for sustenance; a human without purpose is unfulfilled, with vast potential not yet realised, and wasting the resources of the earth.

Driving you forward

Knowing your purpose gives you energy to live, not just survive, allowing you to live your live fully.

If, when you wake up in the morning, you jump out of bed energetically, ready to embrace the day to come, eager to do what you set to achieve, you are going towards your purpose.

If, you dread waking up early to go to work, feeling stressed everyday, having little fulfillment and meaning in live, perhaps, the career you have now is not in line with your purpose

It is difficult to find our purpose in life, and our purpose may change from time to time as we grow up, experience major events in live, gain new insights, meet new people. However, your personal values, your worth and your soul remain constant. Use these to seek your purpose in life and you will have the adventure of a lifetime.
